Modern living room design

Living room is the most important room in every house and every apartment. This is the place where the whole family gathers to spend some time together and relax, which is why special attention needs to be given to it when designing a property’s interior.

Whether you’ve just purchased a new piece of real estate or are renovating the one you already own, your living room has to be a pleasant place able to impress your guests if possible.

Designing this space brings certain challenges, but with the help of the following advice, you will be able to create a place in which everyone will love to spend their time. Here’s what you need to know when dealing with a project like this.

Use natural light

When talking about modern interior design, natural light is an element that should be used as much as possible. A space full of natural light feels roomier and more airy, which automatically means that spending time in it will be more pleasant.

The living room is the perfect room for doing this because it’s often positioned in such a way that it receives as much light as possible. So, in apartments, this room is usually facing south, and in some modern houses the living room completely surrounded by glass walls, which provides a fantastic view if the house is surrounded by nature and, of course, plenty of daylight.

One of the best ways to use this is not to diminish the light entering the room with curtains or something like that. Instead, remove any obstacle if possible. Furthermore, you can emphasize the light enetering to room by painting the walls in bright coloros which can then be “disrupted” with darker details such as floors, furniture or work surfaces.

This way, not only do you get a more pleasant living room but you also get a much more luxurious interior design.

Less is more

Obviously, with interior design, it’s impossible to plan without appropriate furniture, but when it comes to this, you can stick to a few simple rules.

First, a living room shouldn’t be cluttered. Disperse the furniture equally across the room in such a way that it doesn’t impede the functionality of the space, and keep in mind that it should also entice people in the room to socialize and communicate.

Pick the larger pieces of furniture first and determine their position in the room. Only then should you switch to smaller pieces. It’s better to invest in one, more expensive element that enhances the room and allows it to fulfil its purpose than in many smaller elements that will take away the feeling of spaciousness and volume.

Shelves and similar pieces are welcome, but here too you should try to avoid cluttering things up. A few books and an occasional vase or something similar will be enough to enrich the space, and the same goes for all other types of decoration you’re aiming to set up.

Do you need a designer?

It’s good to keep in mind tha there are professional designers who you can talk to when designing your interior. Not only can these people easily propose several variations of the same room, interior designer are usually well connected with many different experts and craftsmen who can help transform your home.

That way, things get done much faster, and you can save yourself a lot of stress because your letting professionals take control. You simply come back when everything is done.

Then there’s the fact that interior designers can often find different elements and furniture pieces at much lower prices, which can save you a pretty penny in the end.

Even if you have a clear idea of how your living room should look, it’s always a good idea to seek advice from a professional. It’s possible that they will give you a completely new approach to interior design or point out a detail you’ve overlooked. In any case, hiring an interior designer shouldn’t be dismissed as an additional expense right away.
